Are the Trolley and Boardwalk handicap accessible?

Both the trolley and boardwalk are handicap accessible.


Can I use my Federal Refuge Pass to Enter?

As a concessionaire the City will NOT be accepting any federal refuge passes this year.   Annual passes for visitors to walk on the property are available for purchase this year for very reasonable prices.  All passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase and are available for individuals group passes for up to 6 designated people. The pass is printed with the name(s) on it and provided with purchase.

  • Walk-In: Includes entry to the refuge at Three Sisters Springs
    • $25 Individual
    • $60 Group (up to 6 people)
  • Trolley and Entrance Pass:
    • $50 Individual
    • $120 Group (up to 6 people)


Can I drive my vehicle to the springs?  There is no public parking onsite unless you possess a handicap parking permit. Otherwise access to the refuge is provided via our trolley tour which is included in admission.


When is the best time to visit? The springs regardless of the time of year are always stunning.  The best times for manatee viewing are during cold fronts and high tides from November 15th to March 31. 

Can I bring my dog? Only certified service animals are allowed at the refuge.


What else is there to do other than the boardwalk? During manatee season, volunteers provide guided walking tours  daily at set times throughout the day, please inquire with the volunteers at the Boardwalk for the tour schedule. 


Three Sisters Springs is an excellent birding site! We have over 100 different documented bird species sighted at the Three Sisters Springs! USFWS volunteers offer birding tours throughout manatee season. Check with the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge for a schedule of tours. Ph: 352-563-2088


Can we swim in the springs, rent kayaks or swim with the manatee's on this tour?  Our tours are land based and focus on the unique ecosystems and species that are found onsite (wetlands, springs, mammals, birds...etc).  To swim in the springs, rent kayaks or canoes, or to swim with the manatees there are numerous qualified guides and rentals company's available in Crystal River that provide those services.  A simple google search will help you to find a guide, or please visit discovercrystalriverfl.com 


What amenities are located on site?  We have portable restrooms and wash stations onsite. There is no potable water or electricity available.


What areas or trails are open? Click here for a map of the boardwalk, open trails and wildlife viewing areas that are open. 

Can I take photos? Yes! There are opportunities to photograph manatees from the boardwalk and birds from the wetland trails. Please stay on the designated trails and boardwalk for your safety. Please respect wildlife; camera extension poles (aka selfie-sticks) are not allowed.
